Question:

How many Seehausens existed In Prussia in 1839 ?

I believe he was Luthern , I also know he was in the German Army in 1857 and did not complete his 3 year reserve, he came to U.S. looking for brother Carl Siegeler. He thought he would return to Prussia to complete his last year of reserve. He joined C.W. in1864 in Watertown, N.Y.He used alias name to get here Louis Ziegler.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: There's no accurate way to answer your question. No one has enumerated names in Prussia by year. But if you think he came here with an alias, we're done with the search. He'd have had to have gotten an exit visa to leave...and if he faked the name on that, we can't link him up very easily...especially if he kept the name through his final years.

I can tell you that Theo Seehausen came to the US in 1865.

All of these came through the Port of New York, but all much later than your Louis:

There isn't a good Prussian Census (Volksz?hlung) for the years you need. There aren't any immigration records for Louis Ziegler coming out of the German databases.

I also went through the Poznan Marriage Project index (the most comprehensive transcription of records from the former West Prussian province). See if any of these help:
