Question:

I am trying to find some info on my dad, can someone help?

My father, Kenneth Edward Mccullough, was arrested in the late part of the 80's, though I am not certain what date...I never had the chance to know him because he died in August of 1995, he was a prisoner at Angola state Penetentiary when he passed. I want to know if there is any way I can find his death certificate, or any information about his cause of death, as I was not told how he died. He was only 41 when he died. He was born November 15, 1954. I would also like to find information on what he was charged with, and what crime he commited, I just don't know where to look. Please help.

Order it online....in the state of Louisiana, you have the right to the record as his adult child. Department of Corrections in the state where he died?? You should contact the Dept of Vital records in La and they should give you the info you're looking for. You can do a background check on him to find out what he was arrested for but you will have to pay for that or most states have a DOC website with all the inmates on it and that will tell you what he was charged with, although most states don't keep up with their websites. And for the death certificate you can possible call the court house,or the hospital in the county he died in and tell them what the situation is and they will point you in the right direction. But to get a death certificate you have to pay money also.

Good luck ancestry.com --- get the free trial membership. But research as much as you can and as fast as possible b/c you only get 3 days. And make sure that you get the 3 day trial b/c its free and doesnt require banking info. Happy researching :-D Do you know what cemetery he is buried in? Start there. From there you can get his death certificate, that will give you his cause of death. You can try contacting the department of corrections however I doubt they will tell you anything at all. If they would at least tell you what court convicted him then you could order a copy of the transcript which could be costly depending on how long it went on. If you could find out what law enforcement agency arrested him you could get a copy of the officer's report. I'll do a little research and see if I can find you a website that might give you info.

Ok I did learn a couple of things. 1st. Dept of Corrections will not release info on prisoners. 2nd There are 2 cemeteries on the prison grounds. 3rd this prison is for lifers meaning they are never going to get out. I know this isn't much help. I'm thinking your best bet is to order your Dad's death certificate and see what you find in it. I'd like to know the answer to that one. do you know where he was in jail at. Try that state first go to ecxite. com and look at the people finder. Call the newspaers in the city he died in and vital records they should have that info for you. If you need more help email me. I will try my harest to help you more.my yahoo name @yahoo.com
good luck on your search Do you have his birth certificate (if you know where he was born)?

About his crime, you may need to do a very lengthy search through the newspapers, or pay someone to search for you.

Assuming the prison is in USA (and not in Angola), can you write to the Warden and/or prison office and ask for details? Even the year he died and the cause?
