Question:

How to find biological grandfather if...?

My father was born out of wedlock, only adopted by my legal grandfather when my grandmother married him. That was the law those days in Belgium. Needless to say my dad was born with his mother's name. None of his birth certificate mentions his father; in fact it says "father unknown". And, of course, the only person who knows the father, doesn't say a word.

So how to go about finding that person, in any other way than the usual; birth certs etc?

I Contacted Mr A's widow and all I Know is that when Itoldherthe story It became Real clear to her who my mother was and she said she would check in to my story and see if I am who I claimed to be.HER and mr A never had children,
and I hurt her with my info she sold their property and bought 3 diffrent places and went in to hideing.I guess she thinks I am going to come after her $$$$ that is the last thing I want. Mr Bhas fond memories of my mom but when it gets down to the maken of JR. here he is real Off on the possible conception dates. All though he might be wrong. all I want is closure to some thing that Haunts me as far as where did I come from and Where would I fit in to my extended family
Or am I all alone? My advice to you is keep at her she will spill the beans,Unless she was raped or the man she was involved with was truly A bad man then she will take it with her to her grave. Let her know that Confession is good for the SOUL even if your not A spiritual counsoler leting it out will lift hte weight of the burden from her sholders and she need noy tote that weight any more once you expose
the problem to the light it loses all its hold upon the SOUL

peace be with you walter c Unless you can get some one to talk you cannot progress any further, Not unless you want to mass DNA test every likely candidate, not a likely event. If your Dad is still alive or a son of his is, then you can get him to take a DNA test, which will cost about 149 dollars through FamilytreeDNA.com He will probably have some matches with other people and you can contact them. They might be able to figure this out with you. I think it's the best way for you, considering what you told us. Sorry to hear that . What does your Father want is also a Q here. Besides G'mom.

I see "Belgium" and get thoughts of a country that had major upheavals specially about that time.
So wonder what problems your Grand Mother went through. Those were difficult days in Europe.
It may be more than your Grandmother would like revealed. And specially the real Father.
He may not want any part either.
More than him, his family.

If you know people in Belgium, start there.

So I do understand her. I wish you best. There are many sites these days. But take care.
Wish you best. go to www.genesreunited.co.uk and put your grandmothers name in and search from there
good luck I am sorry to say there might never be a way unless your grandmother passes the info to someone in the family that remembers it.
