If they were born before 1930, you'll be able to find them in the most current available census. Also, it may be possible to find them in a public records search. You could try http://www.webdetective.com I think you can get a free membership there.

If before 1930, try http://usgenweb.org or http://www.ancestry.com - you can get a free trial membership at ancestry and look in public records there, regardless if it prior to 1930 or not or 1930 census.
