This site has some great (scholarly) resources. Their maps alone are fantastic. But any East European research is a major challenge, since the boundaries changed every three weeks. OK.. so, that exaggerates. Every three months.
I do hope that you have worked the sources over here, ie Ellis Island, Castle Garden, naturalization files, so forth. Often you will find his relatives noted in those records. Although I never followed through, one of my leads was someone had saved old letters from a brother in Poland. But those would be in family attics and such.
One more source is the mail lists from rootsweb.com, by locality. I've never worked Prussia, but I think there is a list specific to that. Networking with others working the same area can be a huge help. And easier if stuff comes by email. The resource you need to tap into is the Polish Museum of America's Library in Chicago. Every Wednesday they have volunteers work on genealogy info requests. It's a fabulous library with a very good focus on both Prussian partitions and Galicia. Send an email and ask someone to lookup the village in the West Prussian gazetteers from the 1800s. All we can do is make educated guesses from snippets that are on the internet. They can pull actual books from the era that are pretty definitive. Go for the best possible resource available to you... http://pma.prcua.org/libraryen.html...
