SAM1981...the meaning given on that website is incorrect. If you notice it said "Unknown", so they really don't know about it. There is one website that actually did a study on surnames and that one IS correct...but I'll leave that up to you guys and see if you can guess, and find the website :-D

So a clue...I'm not of Irish, Scottish, Russian, Native American, Canadian (French included in that), Serbian, Hungarian, nor of Macedonian origin.

I do have 1/4 English in me. This is from my Father's Mother...My Father's Father is not English at all. He has a differen't origin. Can anyone guess? :-)

Anyway, the name Gavitt sounds almost like if you said it in different ways it could be French or Italian. Eastern European -- maybe Serbian or Hungarian European...but the name sounds Irish origin. just plain american or irish maytbe but i really dont know I think you are Macedonian,but the surname sounds Scottish. You are American! You may have family from Russia, Poland, England, I would also hazard a guess you have some Native American blood too.

Gavitt is English of unknown orgin, possibly an alterred spelling of Gabbett. your from nova scotia or newfoundland, so that makes you canadian I would say by looks alone Irish or even Scottish Gavitt
