========================

Names are just clues. I live in Stanislaus County, California. It was named after an Indian. He, in turn, had been named after the Patron saint of Poland by Spanish missionary priests.

If your grandfather married a Cherokee, Chocktaw, Arapaho . . ., then yes, Jungbluth has lots of ties with native americans. If your grandfather WAS a Cherokee, Chocktaw, Apache . . . and was given a Christian name by a German missionary priest after he converted, then yes, Jungbluth has ties to being NA.

The only way to tell is to trace your family tree.

I went to the LDS 1880,
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/search/f...

used some common European surnames and changed the race to Native American. I got 200+ hits for Smith, 106 for Miller and 195 for Williams. I doubt it; probably Swiss Jung is swiss origin and bluth is probably from some swiss origin ... http://www.houseofnames.com/fc.asp?sid=&... Jungbluth

Possibly - check out the Dawes Rolls and put in your search criteria, my suggestion is to leave the tribe blank though. You may be surprised.

Hope this helps.
