Position:Home>Genealogy> Obituaries?Question: Obituaries?Anyone know where I can find an older obituary? My local on line newspaper only goes back one year. Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Some county-level genealogy sites have some obits. Ancestry has an obituary collection, but it is by subscription. There are two or three large nation-wide obit web sites for the USA. Gracious, considerate people across the country will look up an obit for you, sometimes, if you post a request on a county-level board. Some libraries will sometimes send you a copy; you need to send them a SASE at least, and sometimes a small fee. If you live near the town, the fastest, surest way is to go to the public library and look it up yourself on microfilm. http://www.tedpack.org/obit.html... has links and a fuller explanation. Best bet is the archive at the library or at the paper itself. |
