Is anyone from Italy and has heard this last name?

My ansestor, Luigi Sancassani, was originally from Italy. He came to New York through Ellis Island. My aunt had visited Italy and some people there asked if she was a mafia person? (I think they were joking.) But, if anyone has any information on my i-don't-know-how-many-greats-g... can you please tell me!

He may be one of the first immigrants so his informations got burned when the first immigration center burned. Or maybe he is just a son of a Sancassani immigrant. Eitherways the site says that some Sancassani came from Brescia and Como. Maybe you can start your search there. And about the 'mafia' thing, yes it's just a joke.
