Question:

Is anyone from Italy and has heard this last name?

My ansestor, Luigi Sancassani, was originally from Italy. He came to New York through Ellis Island. My aunt had visited Italy and some people there asked if she was a mafia person? (I think they were joking.) But, if anyone has any information on my i-don't-know-how-many-greats-g... can you please tell me!

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Try www.ellisisland.org. I checked his name but it's not in the list. He may be one of the first immigrants so his informations got burned when the first immigration center burned. Or maybe he is just a son of a Sancassani immigrant. Eitherways the site says that some Sancassani came from Brescia and Como. Maybe you can start your search there. And about the 'mafia' thing, yes it's just a joke. Non-italians always takes an italian in their country as a mafia..as a joke Source(s):
www.ellisisland.org cousin to Pac Man well, you can look on ancestry.com or geneology.com but sometimes you have to pay to go back a certain ways. if you have a major Mormon temple with a geneology library near you, the Mormon Church will allow you to use the library free of charge (you can't go into the temple if you are not a member but I was able to some research at the Los Angeles Mormon Temple Library for a project) good luck Why not have a luck at the web site below, if you register with the site (Which is free to use) you might be able to find him. You can view the original manifest which may just give you a place to start your Italian research. no but I like to visit their
