You can get these tests from a number of locations. The results are posted to the web. Family Tree DNA is done in the US. Sorenson, (free), I am not sure where. Here are the sites:

The non-sex chromosomes. Humans have 23 pairs of chromosomes: the first 22 pairs are autosomal DNA and the 23rd pair consists of the sex chromosomes (the X- and Y- chromosomes).
