Question:

Photo preference in your genealogy software- most recent? best?

I have several relatives (mainly aunts, uncles, and cousins) who are more than adequately photographed. I've been thinking over how I want to handle them in my genealogy software. I can have an un-limited number of photos, with the first picture being the default profile picture for charts and such.

Which pictures would you use?

I think that I want to cut up pictures for the default picture (have only that one person in them). For other pictures, should I have couples and families or mostly individuals? For the default, should I use one that's most recent, or the one that they look best in? (For example, I have pictures of my grandparents at my parents' wedding, when they were considerably younger. Should I use those, or the ones where they're more like I remember them?)

I obviously can't use all of the pictures, so what's your insight on this?

I know hay you mean. If you only have one pic, then that is it. But if you have a number of pics, then use the one that puts that person in their best light- makes them look the best. It is not your memory you are building this for, it is for all to see - so, what someone became is important. I would show them in the prime of their life. Wedding photos might be the best to use. Adolecent, not so good. Old age, not so good. At least that is the way I see it.
