Question:

Tell me the story of your ancestors that has been passed down.?

I want to hear stories of Grandparents coming to the U.S. Or stories of you tracing your family tree, and what you have found from tracing your roots. For example, famous people, not from now, but those who helped to build the U.S.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I have been tracing my family for almost 5 years, and have found many interesting stories. One of my ancestors left her husband and three small children for a travelling salesman, many died in either the Civil War or Revolutionary War, but the strangest story on my side is the couple who were investigated because all 5 of their children died of accidental poisonings within a 4 month period.

On my husband's side, his 4th great grandfather was shot and killed over a land dispute, and his great grandfather died in a buggy accident. His great uncle survived the Bataan Death March, only to die on a transport ship a couple of months later.

On my father's side, I learned that the story we had grown up with of how my grandparents came to this country was incorrect. We were brought up being told they came together, but facts show they came 4 years apart.

I have tons of other fun stories - and some pretty famous family members. Richard M. Nixon, Abraham Lincoln, John Alden - just to name a couple. My database is at almost 100,000 now and growing daily.
