Question:

What is the best way to preserve pictures from the 1850's?

My family has some photos that are fragile and was wondering how best to preserve them going forward.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I would make sure to store them in an acid free, lignin free box. If you want to place them in an album, the ONLY thing I would use is a Creative Memories album and supplies, and page protectors. You can find supplies on the market (at Joann's, Michael's, etc) that say they are acid and lignin free, but in truth they are not. I have pictures from the late 1800's and early 1900's and wouldn't put them in anything else. CM does so much quality control testing! They may cost a little more, but they are the best.
