Question:

How can i find out the history on a house, who has lived there,etc... any info from the past?

i would like to know who has lived there and go back as far as i can possibly go. i haven't found the correct site and i would like to do this online if at all possible. looking for something free.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: You probably won't find it on the web. It takes time to type up old records. That means you either have to pay someone to do it or find a willing volunteer. Genealogy society volunteers type up birth, death and marriage records, but that's about it. There is very little demand for anything else, and there is no sense spending 500 man-hours on a web site two people will look at.

You could go to your public library. Most have old city directories. Most city directories, in turn, have reverse listings, where people are listed in order of their street number and street name, instead of their name:

123 Elm - Adms, Alan
124 Elm - Ziggety, Zacharry
127 Elm - Quigley, Quentin

Most people are listed in most years, but expect some gaps.

If your newspaper has an index, they may tell you if "Quentin Quigley" was ever in the paper. They may not have an index and they may not have anything for your house's former residents in the index.

The county recorder can tell you who bought the house and who paid taxes on it every year, probably, but you may have to pay a fee.

I suspect this is all more work that you will be willing to do to satisfy your curiosity.
