Question:

Where is a good place to start researching my great-grandfathers life as a miner in tombstone?

All I know is he lived in Tombstone with his wife and worked as a miner during the early 1900's.

I have researched Tombstone myself. I found a photo of Virgil Earp (the real lawman out of the Earp brothers) taken just after he was discharged after the Civil War. So I looked up some information on him.

I would recommend you start with the United States federal census. You can either visit a branch of the National Archives and records Administration (NARA) www.nara.gov. Or just go to your local library that has the best genealogy collection. You may have to call around to find out what library this is. A small branch library won't do. Typically only one library in a city has a good genealogy collection. Ask them if they have the entire U.S. federal census collection - all states, all years. If they do, pay them a visit.
