How to find out where someone died?

It could have been in Illinois or Michigan but I don't know. The child support office called me 3 days ago to let me know my daughter's father died in Sept. 21, 2005 I have no clue as to how and where he died. Please help. I don't think he had any other children. We have filed for S.S. survivor benefits.

It will give you name date of birth, date of death, place of last benefit as well as the state the social security number was issued. Here is the website.
