Question:

Know anything about Alkiviades Michaelides from Cyprus?

I realise this is a long shot, but I am looking for any information about my grandfather. His name was Alkiviades Paraskevas Michaelides and he was born, probably in Cyprus, around 1914. His father was Paraskevas Michaelides and he was a cloth dyer. Alkiviades married my grand mother Irene Denne in 1938 in Bath, UK. My mother Sally was born five years later. Alkiviades was possibly in the RAF, but he may also have worked in catering, and may have played a musical instument. He was possibly also know as Angelo or Arthur. We know nothing about him or when or where he died. My grandmother never talked about him to my mother at all. I would love to find out anything at all, such as if the names have meanings or are linked to any particular region.

Thanks

Andrew

Alkiviadis is an ancient greek name and those names are rare in the greek world the last centuries because most greeks have names of christian saints.
Michailides is a common name in Cyprus. It means the son of Michael. There was a famous poet in Cyprus, Vasilis Michailides, I don't know if you are related with him.
I am really sorry but I don't know anything more about your gradfather. If you know his village it will be very helpful and I may learn more.
