Question:

Why can't I find my family history? why is it so hard? I just would like to know where my family history start

is there a web site that i can go on the look up my family history

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: It is hard for the same reason you can find 3,000,000 pages about Jennifer Anniston on the web, but none about your grandfather - supply and demand.

All of the data on the web comes from people who type it in. No one is interested in your family but you and some of your relatives. We are even there - no one is interested in my family either, but me and some of my relatives. Your family (and mine) are not that popular, so there isn't much data.

There are sites with data, but it takes time. I have a web page designed to be used in a class on Internet Genealogy I'm giving in the library. If you work through the exercises it should take 1 - 2 hours. If you'd like to give it a try, please do so. It is for beginners who live in the USA. It and all the sites it references are free, save for one link to Ancestry. Don't sign up for anything on Ancestry.

You'll need your grandparents' names, and maybe your great-grandparents. If you try it, I'd appreciate some feedback.
