Question:

King Herod's Decedents?

Who are they now? I know who they are all the way up until 7BC, I am more interested if anyone knows what decedents are alive today that link back to his family tree? Any takers on this question? Thanks

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: If anyone claims to be a descendent of Herod the Great, ask for proof. There won't be any, of course, because there are no records that can prove such a thing. Herod did have many wives (10, according to Wikipedia, which also has a very nice family tree) and children. His last descendent who was king was Agrippa II (AD 27-100).

Interestingly, one is more likely to be able to "prove" (to the extent that is possible) that the biblical Aaron, who lived hundreds of years before Herod, was an ancestor, because of Jewish tradition and even DNA markers.

So, if someone was to open a tomb of Herod or his children and find extractable DNA, it could be possible to identify markers that would identify descendents. Short of that, however, I wouldn't recognize any claim of descent.
