im looking to build a family tree, are there any free (GOOD) programs that are EASY? and where can i start to look for (FREE) info in finding family members

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: The best free family tree database program is Legacy Family Tree (see the first link below). The standard edition is free, but if you like the program and you want more features, you can upgrade to the deluxe edition for $29.95.

There are lots of free places to look for information on your family. A good place to start is Cyndi's List of Genealogy Websites (second link). You'll find links to lots and lots of free information there.

The best website for actual data is Ancestry.com (third link). This is a subscription website that you can access for free at most Family History Centers and many public libraries. Find out where your local Family History Center is by going to the Family Search website (fourth link). The Family Search site provides a lot of free information, especially if your ancestors are from the UK or Scandinavia.
