How to find a lost savings account?

somewhere in beginning of my life my grandmother opened up me a savings account. i was 7 when she died so much i do not know of it. i remember her takin me there and puttin money in it and her sayin that it was my savings account. but this is in shreveport la and i am sure the bank is no longer the same name (which i don't remember) or anything but is there a way on the net for free that i can find out if there is any savings account floating around in my name?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: If the account was escheated to the state, you can check with LA's state treasury, just do a search for the state's website. Most states have a lookup tool just for such accounts.
