Question:

Family cemeteries?

Can a Family cemetery (that just has the family in it) that is on the familys land, be a private one or does it have to be public?

thanks

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: There are many private family cemeteries in the United States. It wasn't uncommon in the old days to be buried on ones own land, especially land that was to remain in the family. With that, people have to realize that just because an ancestor was buried in a private cemetery, doesn't give them a right to trespass. One should always get permission from the landowner to visit their loved ones resting place.
