Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: You can go to the Birth,Deaths and Marriages building in your area. It is usually situated in any council offices.

If it is a local birth they can find it for you if you have the name and the date the baby was born.

You can however go on line and find it. Try using a Path program. This is a record that lists the Births Deaths and marriages in all areas.

Alternatively ask your local Council Office or go to Citizens advice they can maybe point you in the right direction.
