Is there a way via DNA testing to find out your genealogical and ancestral history?

I thought I read something about this, but have only found DNA research as it relates to medical science. Anyone know of this or where to obtain this testing?

You can do Genealogical DNA testing to determine some of your ancestral history, not precisely who. You can tie to another project, you can tie to a specific individual (distant cousin), and they have both paternal and maternal tests. The paternal test is more prolific, and there are mostly projects for that. Here are the sites for Family Tree, National Geographic, and many others. Several of these will test you once, and share the data. There are several levels of tests too! The higher the level, the more precise the results can get.
