Question:

When writing a name that begins Mc what is the significance of putting 1 or 2 lines under the c?

I have been told that there is a different meaning between none, 1 or 2 lines under the c. Is this true? If so what are the meanings?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: It is not true. Since the letter after the "c" is also capitalized ("McGregor"), putting a line under the "c" shows that the next letter isn't upper case by mistake. It is a visual clue that you pronounce it somewhere between "Mack" and "Mick", even though it is spelled "Mc".
