Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Well, I'm just a white guy that grew up in Massachusetts, so it's hard for me to know exactly why. However, I think there are probably two large factors in play here. 1. Brooklyn is famous for being a rough and tumble place. 2. Brooklyn adjoins NYC.

The fact the Brooklyn is a tough place is important because only the strongest of the strong are going to transcend all of the challanges and go on to be successful in the larger world.

Brooklyn is part of NYC which is perhaps the cultural center of the world. All the dynamicism probably spills into Brooklyn from NYC and then Brooklyn adds its own street flavor to this dynamicism. NYC is a darn competive and cold place. I would never like to live there, but there is no denying that within its borders are some highly capable people. I just more of a quality of life kind of guy.
