Does anybody know where there family name of Nix came from, or the history of how they got the name?

I know this is kind of a rare last name but I've always been curious of the history behind it.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: A nix is a scandinavian/germanic water spirit so that could be a source (found this in wikipedia). Nix could also be a shortened form of a much longer last name. I am interested to see some of the other answers.
