Question:

A quick question finding family...?

I'll try to make this as short as possible...ok, when I was young my father died, and my father's family and my mother (who detest each other) haven't spoken since. My mother once mentioned to me something my father believed- that he was actually one child of all his brothers and sisters who was in reality their half brother. He felt this way for several reasons- One, he said his mother and her doctor had an unusual relationship. Two, he did not look like his 'family', but very much like the doctor and his children. I have a few old photos, and a few from my parent's wedding...and my father really does not resemble his family. They all look alike, but he doesn't- and he insisted it was because he was the son of that doctor. I know the doctor's name and where he practiced...I want to know which sur name I'm 'supposed' to have. Either way I won't change my name- I'm who I am no matter what, but I still want to know...what do I do? Thanks, I appreciate it.

I know the family name and where they live...so what can I do to see if I'm related. It should be as simple as seeing if the y chromosomes match, right?
