Help tracing family history ( navy )?

Im trying to find out about my grandfather but all i know of him is his name, i have found the following but i dont know how to use the info, can anyone help me ???

Name, F. G.Walker
Cook MX535343
Royal Navy. in brackets underneathwhat looks like the words
(baker journeyman ) ???

This info was on my fathers birth cert 1944, and I know that my grandmother (his wife ) was born in 1902, so my grandfather was probably born around the same time, give or take ).
Can anyone help ???
