Question:

Landsberg family immigrants to South Africa from Germany mid 1800s from Schloss Landsberg in Essen?

Ludwig Heinrich Otto von Landsberg was born in Germany in 1803 and was brought with his family to South Africa in the mid 1800s. Schloss Landsberg in the Ruhr valley, Essen-Kettwig, was bought from the Landsbergs by the Thyssen family in early 1900s.

Are the Landsberg families the same?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Hey Osadie,

All that I can suggest is that you speak with other Landsberg family members interested in Genealogy about this. The GENFORUM has a Landsberg surname specific forum, and there are 10 messages posted as recently as 11/2006. So, there are about 5 people discussing this surname that would be really good resources for you.

A Yahoo! Search for Landsberg Family is also shown below. There are many sites that you might get information from there also.

This is not a direct answer to your question, but a reference that should get you to the answer. Good luck.
