I know there are lots of us out there but looking for Elliott's from S.C. and Virgina.

and play around. I tried Surname = Elliott, birth place = SC and got 1124 hits. Use the postal abbreviation (SC or VA) for the state. Try SC in birth place, marriage place, death place, then repeat for VA. (That is, leave everything blank but surname and "SC" in BP, then erase it from BP and enter it in MP, then erase it from MP and enter it in DP. Repeat for VA)

If you are looking for recently dead people, try the SSDI and click on "Advanced". It lets you enter a state.

"Last Residence" is usually filled in, "Last Benefit" isn't. You could try "SSN Issued in", too, to find Elliotts who lived there but died elsewhere.

In both sites, "or" doesn't work, so "SC or VA" would give you no hits.
