Question:

Where are the last names ending with -etter from? From what European country?

I'm very curious about geneology and stuff. Does anyone know?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: There were at least a dozen countries where you could have found surnames ending in -etter. England, Ireland, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark all come to mind. The suffix isn't really definitive because it's used for any of the occupation surnames in any country that's had a German influence on the development of its language.
