Hanson Griffin Sr ROCK HILL - Mr. Hanson Neil Griffin Sr. , 69 , of 813-101 Patriot Parkway died Thursday , March 15 , 2001 , at Piedmont Medical Center. A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel , with the Rev. Steve Hogg officiating. A native of Charlotte , Mr. Griffin was a son of Loma Farrington Griffin and the late Hanson P. Griffin. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a graduate of Charlotte's Central High School and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was a music teacher at Tillman Music of Rock Hill and a former musician , bandleader , band director and author of musical instruction books for Mel Bay Publications. He was former president of American Federation of Musicians Local No. 342 in Charlotte and a former member of the Charlotte Kiwanis Club. Surviving , in addition to his mother , are his wife , Nancy Lanier Griffin ; his son , Richard Griffin of Charlotte ; three daughters , Kathryn Nixon of Charlotte , Susan Brown of Belmont , N.C. , and Lisa DeLane Huneycutt of Concord , N.C ; his brother , Robert S. Griffin of Charlotte ; his stepson , Steven Jablonsky of Charlotte ; eight grandchildren ; and his stepgrandson.
