Al Sharpton said he wants a DNA test to determine whether he is related to former segregationist Sen. Strom Thurmond through his great-grandfather, a slave owned by an ancestor of the late senator.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: It's possible that they're related but I wonder why it would really matter. Rev. Sharpton will never, ever be able to change Strom Thurmand's mind about anything since Mr. Thurmond is dead and buried. All the DNA test results would accomplish would be more publicity for Al Sharpton.
