Question:

Are wills documents of record in Iowa and are they available for genealogy tracking?

I have an interest in a great-aunt who died in Ames Iowa in 1948. I recently learned that she bequethed some of her paintings and would like to find out what might be listed. Does the state or county keep these records in any form?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Story County, Iowa where Ames is located has an index of the will books online to 1970. I included the website below. It also lists where to write to to obtain a copy and how much it costs. This particular genealogy website appears to be updated rather often, so I believe this information is likely to be correct.
