Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Here's some Hawaiian surnames: Nihipali (knee-he-pa-lee) Kahawaii, Kamakeoaina, Nawahine, Pukahi, Kamauoha, Ah-Puck, Kamaauoha, Pouha, Kanekalau, Pula, Alapa,Makaiau ps - don't let the names intimidate you - they are relatively easy to pronounce. Basically, the vowels are usually pronounced as follows: A is pronounced "Ah" E is pronounced as a long A as in "hay". i is pronounced as a long e as in "see". Ai together is usually the long i sound that you find in the word Hawaii. or in the word eye The w is sometimes pronounced as a "V" In Hawaii there is a highway called the LikeLike - no its not pronounced like, like. its pronounced lee-kay-lee-kay.
