Question:

Is there a Canada, England? Or an England, Canada?

I'm researching my family tree and I'm noticing that there are people in my tree that seem to have both Canada and England listed as a place. Either there are multiple source records and some say England and some say Canada, or there are a couple that say both. It makes me think there's an England, Canada somewhere or maybe a Canada, England. Or does it mean they came from England by way of Canada? Or maybe there's a county named one in the other?

When I first saw it I dismissed it thinking the family source may have been wrong about where that person came from, but now I've seen it several times for different people in the tree and it has me thinking there's got to be something to this. And it makes me think I can't be the only one who's run into this.

So do any of you know anything that could help shed some light on this? It's making these branches of my family tree harder to figure out. Thanks.

I googled and wikied and didn't see anywhere in canada with the name england or vice versa. I've speculated for weeks. I'm hoping to get an answer from a genealogist who has seen the same thing and knows what it actually means.
