Hello! I have also been dancing my whole life and I know what you feel like!. Although my dream is not to become a professional dancer, I totally hear what you are saying!. I want to become a graphic designer when I grow up and that's pretty out of reach too!. However, I thought my parents would totally disagree with my choices and want me to be something else!. (My dad wanted me to become a lawyer) Here's the best and most mature way to win them over:

1!. Show your dedication:
Meaning, try to complain less over soreness or tiredness (I know, it's hard not to complain!)!. also do not mention how dance is overtaking everything else you want to do!. Being positive and always committed shows them you are ready to take this seriously!.

2!. Research:
Do a little planning!. Which company would you like to join!? What's the curriculum and schedule like over there!? What about college!? Which one would you like to attend!? What GPA and SAT scores do they look for in applicants!? (Although, I wouldn't stress about college just yet, considering your age)

3!. Show your love and talent for dance:
When I told my parents I wanted to become a graphics designer, they didn't believe that I would work hard for it or that I liked it so much!. After seeing me create some designs, they realized how much I really liked it and they loved all of my designs!

4!. Keep up your grades:
If you can maintain your dance schedule and grades in school, that will really impress you parents!. I know mine would not let me dance if I had low grades, so it's even more motivation to do well in school! also grades are an important factor in college applications too!.

5!. Act mature and professional:
When you tell your parents, be sure not to be whiny or throw a tantrum!. (I'm pretty sure you won't, but hey! just in case)!. also going back to the "Research" tip, your parents will be more impressed if you have thought this through thoroughly!.

And if after telling your parents, they still disagree with your dreams:

6!. Never give up!
Don't let anyone stop you from doing what you love in life!. Never settle for less!. If your parents don't agree with what you want, I'm sure sooner or later they'll come around after seeing that it's what you really want!

Good luck! Hope I helped! also, don't be afraid to tell your parents!. They really do want what's best for you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

My personal advice is that you just go right out and tell them!. You know it's your life, and I think that you should be able to live life how you want to!. I don't see why it would be unrealistic either!. Likely you will be able to become part of a company, and worse comes to worse you become a dance teacher or choreographer! I have also considered dance and my parents have shot me down as well, but I'm hoping that in good time they will understand!. I often make it clear to them that I would rather spend my life as a homeless dancer then be stuck wasting my time as a doctor or something like that!. Good luck!. :]Www@QuestionHome@Com

Just tell 'em if they say "that's unrealistic" then so what!? It's your life, would you rather listen to your parents and regret your decision for your entire life!? Or would you rather face ridicule now and achieve your goals and be happy forever!? If you've taken classes you are very prepared for a career in the field of dance!. Dancers can also make a fair amount of money down the line and become famous, I'm sure your parents won't discourage you then will they!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

If it's your dream, DON'T let your parents talk you out of it! I had to learn the hard way that parents aren't always going to be 100% supportive of some things, so you need to prove them WRONG! If they thing it's unrealistic, show them how realistic it truly is!

It's YOUR dream, not theirs'! I gave up on my dream because I was told it was unrealistic and I don't want anyone else to do it! It's a horrible path to walk to know that you could have done it, but someone talked you out of it!.

I wanted to act!. I had the stage, the lines, everything I needed and then I was told to give up!. Don't make the same choice I made!. Every day I wake up wondering "What if!.!.!." I don't want you to feel the same!.

Good luck in telling them!. Just remember it's your dream and they can NEVER take that away from you!Www@QuestionHome@Com
