Question: What are my chances of getting into School of American Ballet(SAB)!?
I am 12 years old, just old enough to start auditioning for summer intensives!. I just took my first audition, which was ABT, and learned that I got in to the Detroit program!. I was nervous and didn't do my BEST, but I am happy!. I might audition for SAB's summer program and I was wondering what my chances were!. Here is a little about me: I have long legs, regular to short torso, long neck, small face, long arms, skinny ( 91lbs!.) , tall, good turnout, good extension, and an okay arch!. I am the youngest girl at my level at my ballet school, which is Adv ballet!. My teacher, who used to be in Alabama Ballet's company, recommended I audition for SAB!. I REALLY would love to attend their summer program!.!.!. :) Please help!!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Congratulations on getting into ABT Detroit! Actually I think you would be better off at ABT than SAB this year!. The Detroit SI is the one ranked right below the NY SI!. If ABT put you there at your age, they are interested in you!. They do that a lot with dancers they are watching!. There are some amazing teachers at the Detroit SI and it isn't overly crowded (at least in the past it wasn't!.) If you do ABT Detroit this summer, you might get into ABT NY next summer!.

Judging by your body description and the fact that you are 12 and I haven't seen you dance, I still think you have a pretty good shot at the SAB!. At your age at SAB, it is all about the body! The fact you got into ABT Detroit, tells me you can dance!.

One more thing I will tell you that most people do not know!. The full time students at SAB don't attend the SAB SI!. (For reasons I don't feel that comfortable to disclose over this site!.)

What ever you decide to do best of luck!

I will not be answering at YA anymore!. Much too frustrating!
If you really need help, you should check out the Ballet Talk website!. They know what they are talking about and wrong answers are pulled from the site by the monitors (well known pro ballet dancers !.) Most of the people answering questions here know less about dance then you do!.
Listen to your teacher and again, the Very Best of Luck to you!

**what the other answerer said about not going to SAB if you got in and them not taking you next summer is not exactly true!. That is the case with the full time program, but there have been exceptions!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

sab is really selective, but you sound like you have a pretty good body for what they are looking for!.
if you only got into detroit, you are really going to have to step it up at the audition for sab!.
also remember that if you do get into sab, you have to go to sab!. they will not let you in again if you do not go the first time!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

if you think this is what you want to do, go for it!. and if you dont get in, dont fret, just keep working to get better!. and try out another timeWww@QuestionHome@Com
