Question: My toenail is completely bruised!?
My toenail got bruised about a month ago while dancing en pointe!. My ballet teacher says that it will fall off in a couple of months!. I asked her what to do when that happens!. Like can I dance on pointe still!? She says I probably can!.!.!.but that I might need to tape the toenail back on or super glue it!.

I wanted a second opinion!. Can I dance on pointe without a toenail!? And is it okay to tape/superglue it back!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Oh sorry! You can tape your toenail on until it falls off, but you can't keep it from falling off :( The toenail will definitely fall off!. When it does a new one will grow in its place (so don't worry too much) I would not glue your nail back on because it will just hinder the healing process and may cause more pain!. You can still go up en Pointe, but will need to tape your toe- not toe nail (your teacher can help you do this)!. Just baby your toe until it is no longer tender!.
A friend of mine lost a total of 8 toe nails (some were lost more than once)!. She got new Pointe shoes fitted by a professional and never lost another toe nail!. If you continue to lose toenails then you should be fitted by someone who knows about fitting pointe shoes (ask your teacher where you can find a store that specializes in fitting pointe shoes)!. I would suggest trying Bloch signature rehearsal Pointe shoes!. I have had multiple pairs and have never lost a toenail and had few blisters!.
Good luck and happy dancing!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would suggest not super gluing it back on!. That is downright disgusting and probably will infect it!. Yes, you can still dance on pointe, however it is VERY painful and you might decide to wait until it grows back to start again!. Taping your toe like you would a blister is a great idea once it falls off!. Until then, tape it and pad it really well so you can keep dancing!. Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Please do not super glue it back on that is not cool, i don't know why our teacher said that, right now go get it checked out at a doctor and ask him what to do, also be sure to file your toenails right, you clip them straight across like a board, then you gently and slightly round them at the corners, filing in the same direction!. also i would use some medical tape and tape your toe so that your toe nail does not fall off while its growing!.

Hope that helps:)Www@QuestionHome@Com
