Demi Pointe is when you work on the balls of your feet instead of full flats or full pointe!. You can do this bare feet, in normal ballet shoes, or in 'd blocks' which are soft ballet shoes which do enable you to go on pointe!. Usually you start doing demi pointe work in about grade 3 as that is when your feet are usually strong enough, but your teacher has the final say on when you start as she knows how strong your feet actually are!.

If you mean pre-pointe, then it's using pointe shoes that are unblocked so get you used to working in them!. They are just like flats, and you'll do everything on demi because you will not be able to go onto full pointe!.

The grade depends on the school you are attending!. The conservatory I attended had 7 levels, and most 12 yr olds were in level 3B ( intermediate and introductory pointe)!.

Typically the school director will assign you to a proper grade and let you know when you're able to advance!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Demi pointe work is all the exercises you do on your toes/balls of your feet!. These include the basics like walking on your toes and rises right up to grade 6 work of releves, poses to arabesque, etc!. they are all leading up to pointe work with gaining the strength and balance needed for this hardest of disciplines!. what grade you should be in depends on experience and ability!. It should be left up to your ballet teacher!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Demi ("Half") pointe work is on soft ballet shoes and you don't dance on your toes, and pointe is on hard shoes dancing on your toes!. Demi pointe is best for new dancers!.
Some studios have classes for teenagers who are beginners, or you can take a regular class for kids your age!. If you take french in school, it is a lot easier to decipher the step names because everything was originated off of the french languageWww@QuestionHome@Com

Technically, "demi" means half!. Demi pointe is the term we use for dancers who are not yet en pointe, but are working toward that goal!. We also use the term once a student has danced en pointe, but this particular dance or combination is not to be done on "full pointe"!. As the others have said, you need to check with your instructor for the proper level placement!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Demi pointe is working on the ball of the foot and can be done either in ballet flats or pointe shoes but the basics are gathered from doing flat work!. Your teacher will decide what grade you will be in!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
