Question: I miss ballet so much!?
For nearly my entire life I was an aspiring ballerina!. I became a company appprentice for the Atlanta Ballet when I was only fifteen years old and my dream was to be a professional ballerina!. During that year, though, I was seriously overworked, I developed a tendenitis in my hip that would not go away, my finances were running out, and I had to leave!. I am now 19 years old and have not even gone near a ballet studio since the day left due to my hip problem and am attending college as a psychology major!. I have deliberately avoided everything to do with ballet for the past three and a half years because I knew I would just get so upset!. Over the weekend, though, I suckedit up and went to see the Nutcracker with my friend and everything came flooding back to me and I want to go back! But I feel like I'm too old now to catch up and I'm afraid my hip problems will come back!.!.!.I just don't know what to do!. I have an overwhelming desire to put on my old pointe shoes and just barge into the local ballet school, but I don't even know where to start again!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Start exactly with what you just wrote!. Get your ballet slippers and your pointe shoes and get into the studio!. It's not too late if you were that good at 15!. There's still time and there are so many companies out there!. Do it because you love it!. Start slow, work correctly, take care of your hip!. Baby steps!. I walked away from my dancing career for about a year and a half once!. Didn't step foot in a studio, never thought I would again!. But when the time came and I couldn't resist the pull anymore, I went back and was a better dancer than I was before!. I took the time to work more correctly but more importantly I let go of all the anxiety and stress I once felt to be perfect!. Everything finally fell into place!. No more hip problems, no more struggle to get my legs up!. It just happened naturally because I was more aware of the fact that I was doing it for me and no one else!. Go for it, achieve your dreams, and enjoy every minute of it!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Call around some ballet schools and ask about adult classes!. There are severla near me that offer them (in California though)!. You may not be able to go back on pointe right away since you will have to retrain your muscles for that!. Work with experienced, professional teachers though!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

do what is right for your hip not your aspirations, you could end up with severe arthritis in your mid adulthood!!eek don't do ballet but get into the industry maybe become a costume designer or stage director for a leading ballet organisation!!

i'd consult a doctor!.!.!. he or she may be able to suggest a therapy or something you can do to get your hip back in working order!. they also may be able to send you back now, and just tell you to hold off on certain things for now!. then, atleast you could be back in and moving, even if you're not doing everything just yet!. after all that time, i wouldn't suggest just jumping back up on pointe!.!.!. start out with just ballet for a time, your instructor should be able to let you know when you should go back up!. good luck, i really hope this works out for you!Www@QuestionHome@Com

i miss ballet as well, its been years since i got in my shoes, i had to leave ballet because the school shut down, and the next school was too far away, i was known as the gracefulest dancer in my class, always getting honours !.!. i miss it soo much !. !.but ive now changed into hip hop lol and popping !.!. and now said to be the best in that HA!! !.!. but i do believe you should go back to ballet, i remember when i quit that i wasnt as flexible as i was as before, and got cramps much quicker than usual, since i didnt usually exercised or did stretches, my legs became stiff =( !.!. its definately not too late for you ^^ !.!. you should definately go back!. i think u should start by stretching unless ur still flexible enough !.!. and then u should put on your points and practice with him !.!. maybe then u can barge into the local studio !.!. theres not really any problem if u do it now, unless something is stopping you lol !.!. which apparently there is not unless you think about it *wink wink* ^!.- \/Www@QuestionHome@Com

before you do anything dramatic, talk to your doctor about your hip!. see if he thinks it would be ok for your hip if you went back into ballet!. if he approves, then go for it! you really havn't missed that much, and it shouldnt be too hard for you to catch up!. if you miss it then do it! your still young and you still have time to accomplish that dream! go for it, take a chance and dance! the thrill of dancing isn't something anyone (ESPECIALLY a dancer) could forget, and you have to feed the hunger to dance! so talk to your doctor and let your dreams shine!

GOOD LUCK!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

The same thing happened to me! Same injury and age anyway!. The day I walked away I walked away for good after failed physical therapy and taking it easy!. Now I'm 23 and I'm opening my own studio!. I still have a love for dance but, realistically, I know I can't dance anymore!. My hip still flares up!. I decided though that helping others learn the art and become professional dancers was enough for me!. I could not be more thrilled to get back to my passion!.

If you really love ballet you will find a way to make it a part of your life!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
