Question: Is it to late for me to do ballet, i am 14 and have had no training!?
ok, well i read up on body types for ballet and it seems as if mine is totally wrong!.!.!.first i have a fairly big bust for my age, i have ok flexibility (but that can be fixed by stretching) and i have not so good arches for my feet, and im almost 5"7' and im not done growing!.!.!.i have had no experience but i really want to learn, i don't really want to compete or anything, i mainly want to do ballet to gain self confidence, i can work really hard when i put my mind to it, so is it to late for me to do ballet!? if not, what basic things can i do that might help me when i start and what kind of stretches and exercises can i do to improve my flexibility!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

no it isn't too late to be a dancer!.
you may get put in a class with younger kids though, but it would be very hard for you to start in a class with other 14 year olds, seeing as most of them, if not all of them will have been dancing since the age of 2 or 3!. but don't fret, if its something you really wanna do it will all work out!. and now stretchs!

1!. sit on the floor with your legs together in front of you and try to grab your toes and touch your noser to your knees!.

2!. sit on the ground with your legs in as big a V formation you can manage without serious pain, and touch your nose to each knee and try to touch your forehead to the ground!.

3!. sit crossleged infront of a wall, knees touching the wall!. uncross your legs, and move your torso (your crotch) as close to the wall as you can and hold for 30 seconds!.

4!. practise the splits of course!. both front splits and side splits!. for side splits make sure your knees are facing the ceiling, and when your as far as you can go hold it for a minute and you should slide a little farther down!. be warned though, it painful!.

practise those streches everyday, and you'll be amazed at how your flexibility inproves!. i'm living proof, at the beginning of the month i could get a foot away from the ground in my splits, and this monht i'm three inches! ;]

good luck!. sorry about how long it was!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

it might be too late to be a proffessional dancer or a competitive dancer but if you want to do it for confidence there is no "right" body type or size just take it and see how you like it!Www@QuestionHome@Com

no your not to late there is no real age limit i know because i am a teacher of ballet!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Deafinately not!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

if u wanna do it then do it ur never to late for anythinWww@QuestionHome@Com

Its never too late! Don't worry about what people say about the right "body type"!. Every body is a body for ballet lol!. The people at my studio are an inspiration, there are people that are big, small, tall, short, and everyone gets treated the same!. Its great that you want to take up ballet as a confidence builder so good for you! Just keep stretching and pushing yourself as hard as you can and you will go far!. I myself was a late start in the dance world (age 12) and now i'm 14 and i might want to take up dance as a career!. As for the excersises, lots of crunches to strenghten the core, practice balance, stretch alot, and put your heart into it!. Good luck and i hope you do well!! =]Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, not at all!
There is no age limit to learning a new style of dance, we all have to start somewhere, right!?
I'm a dancer (I do various styles, including ballet) and have a fairly big bust for a dancer but that hasn't been a problem so don't worry about that!

Good luck! Just bare in mind it will take time and a lot of practice, but it is so worth it! All the best =]

No, it is not to late for you to start!. It may be hard for you to catch up to the girls your age, but with hard work and if your committed to it you should be fine!. I am a dancer and have been since i was 3, while I know a girl who is 15 and just started 1 year ago and is already as good as me!. Don't be discouraged! Just go out there and try!. If you don't like it then you don't have to stick with it!. Honestly, dancers body types aren't all the same, you don't have to be the same as everyone else!. I know i am not!.!.lol!.!.Go out and just have fun that's all there is to it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
