Question: I'm not as bad as I think I am but I can't help being self concious!?
I started ballet when I was 2 and stopped when I was 4(as we moved country) and finally found ballet classes again when I was 9!. I am now 17 and its not that I feel that I'm struggling I just feel that I'm not as good as I should be, I kind of stay to the back in my class and find it way harder to do things right in class than when I'm at home!. I feel really low and like I just want to shine!. I really feel like I deserve it now, I do practise but not as much as I should due to other commitments but I feel hopeless!. Please help, any advice welcome!.:)Www@QuestionHome@Com

no thats a good weight for your height!. especially cuz you have a lot of muscle and that weighs more than fat!. you should lose weight only if you feel like you should!. i know dancers have that steortype that they have to be like a stick in order to be limber and be a good dancer!. but thats not true!. i know a lot of average sized and even bigger than average dancers that are amazing!. so really, be confident with whatever weight you feel is best for you!. i think all dancers have that feeling!. like that they should be better!. i know i feel that all the time!. im also in a higher class than last year though!. so the girls are better!. but that just makes me want to work that much harder ya know!? so i think if you're really applying yourself and staying focused in class, i think you're fine and you shouldnt be feeling self conscious!. if you're doing whatever you can to be better, then your doing your best and you cant help that you arent perfect yet!. i mean you wont ever be but!.!.
im the same way as you!. i started dancing at 4 and then moved to germany what i was 6 stopped dancing and then moved back when i was 8!. so i was totally in the same situation as you!. and kinda still am!. like i still feel like im just not the best!. but if you really want to shine, just do all that you can do to improve!. stretch every day, really focus during all your classes and thats all you can do! and just be confident with yourself!.
hope this helps :)
oh and one more thing!. i really would move up!. dont stay to the back of your class all the time!. i used to do that!. but when you move up, your teacher sees you more!. and even though they'll probly yell at you more and correct you often, thats a good thing in the long run!. when i started standing right next to the teacher, i really saw myself improve just because he was correctingme all the time!. ah sorry i talked so much!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would make time to practice and just give it your all!. If you try as hard as you can you should be proud even if your not the best you will probally be the one with the most heart put into it and that's what counts!. I'd also shy away from the back of the class it's harder to learn from back there trust me (i used to take jazz, tap, hip hop, and ballet classes) also I know when I was struggling in dance I'd ask my sister for help learning the moves, try to find someone who can give you alittle one on one time to help you improve!.

Good Luck =)Www@QuestionHome@Com
