No No!. Musicians and dancers count music differently!. I happen to be both!. Dancers almost always count in 8's where as musicians and instrumentalist count music depending on the time signature that is provided!. All music has a natural rhythm to it, the 'downbeat' is where the music seems to 'start' every few seconds!. Every few seconds are musically called measures!. It is hard to explain however if you are a dancer the music seems to have a natural rhythm to it!.

So to give you a technical explainaition you must count the music in 8's meaning that you actually count from 1 to 8 when the music starts and the speed at which you count depends on the speed of the music!. I would suggest listening to everything and finding the 'downbeat' and counting to 8 with eveyr downbeat and then starting over from 1 immediately after 8!. It is hard to explain, please e-mail if this is not clear!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

sky that is wrong dancers do not always count in 8's they count in 6's it depends on the music!. If you listen to the song and hear well usually the base in the background count your 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 you know when you are tapping your foot listening to a song those are the counts and when you are dancing you just follow that hope this makes sense and I hope it helps :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

when it's really soft music, it can be quite hard!. normally there are 8 beats and just count 1!.2!.3!.4!.5!.6!.7!.8!. over and over again!. you should try with some music that has louder beats and then clap them, then count them!. eventually you'll get better!.

hope this helped!!! good luck!!! :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

it depend on what kind of music
4/4 time
3/4 time
2/4 time( two step)

4/4 is the most commor and if it is slow you just count on the beats
1 2 3 4

but if it is faster its 1 & 2 & 3 & 4Www@QuestionHome@Com
