Question: What do you know about contorsionism!?
I am getting attracted to the idea and my mom said it would be good if I took an after school class!. Here is what i want to know

- Is it a good idea as a hobby!?
- Is it healthy for a thirteen year old girl!?
- If all no for those two questions, what else is unique and original!?
- If it is a good idea, where can I find a school to take the classes!? I checked yahoo, google, and the yellow pages and I got nothing!.

Thank you! I'm picking a best answer ASAP so, answer quick and accurately!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I did a senior project on contortionism in high school!. I think it is a good hobby!. It takes a lot of dedication, as does anything where you are training your body to do fantastic things (like sports or dance)!. It is healthy, as you have to eat healthy and drink a lot of water too!. That may seem odd but you need to have a healthy body to build flexibility safely!. You need to stay fit as well by doing some cardio when you aren't stretching!.

In countries like Russia, there are schools for rhythmic gymnastics where you can learn contortion!. However, in the U!.S!. I don't think these are as common!. You may be able to contact a gymnastics instructor who can give you private lessons in contortion!. I suggest contacting a local gymnastics training center and asking them if that is possible!. When I was training I had an online coach who I communicated with via webcam!. That situation was not ideal because the coach could not help me stretch or push me to greater flexibility!.

In the U!.S!. I think it is more common to train on your own and have your parents help!. There are many online resources which show different stretches and stretching routines!. The site I've provided a link to is called The Contortionist's Handbook!. It has a lot of information and at the bottom has links to pages showing how to perform different stretches!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
