Hey!

Okay, if you're looking for the less slippery material, I would opt for canvas!. However, I know some people who think that canvas is too "unslippery", meaning it catches onto the floor a lot!.

Canvas is washable, that's the main good point about it!. After a few classes, you can just chuck them into the wash and voila, they'll be clean and ready for the next class!.

Leather doesn't work like this!. For leather slippers, you'd have to wipe everything off with a semi-damp cloth!. However, usually, you'll find that leather doesn't get as dirty as quickly as canvas so you wouldn't have to clean them as much!.

Canvas is very arch-hugging!. Many dancers who don't have particularly high arch will opt for canvas because it will show off your feet more than leather!. The canvas follows the contours of your actual feet!.

Leather is much more stiff, so sometimes you get crinkles and folds when you point your feet!. Hence, it's often regard as being not arch-hugging!. However, the extremely good thing about leather is that it helps to work your feet and make them stronger!. Therefore, you may get up to pointe earlier, because strong feet is one of the requirements for pointe!.

Canvas and leather ballet slippers cost around about the same, canvas is cheaper but leather lasts a bit longer!. I don't know if that helps, but yeah!. :)

You also want to consider if you want to buy split-soled or full-soled shoes!. Usually, I buy one of each, the full-soled for class (because it helps to work your feet more) and the split-soled for performances (because it shows off your feet more)!. I use leather purely because it helps to work and strengthen my feet more but sometimes it can get slippery!.

This is why many dancers use something called rosin!. My studio doesn't have it but you can always ask your teacher if it's okay to use resin and keep a rosin box!. Regardless of what dance shoes you're wearing, stepping in the resin will have some of it stick to your soles and make it less slippery for you when you dance!. I think you can buy it at DiscountDance!. Yep, here's the link: http://http://www!.discountdance!.com/frame_set!.p!.!.!.

Good luck with choosing! Remember to ask your teacher if there's a dress code concerning shoes before you buy anything!. Ballet is an expensive hobby and it would suck to spend money on the wrong shoes!.

Hope I helped a bit!. :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

It really doesnt't matter!. I like canvas better for practice, but leather for performances!. Canvas is easier to show the form of you foot I think, but leather are thicker usually and I feel like I get less blisters and stuff when I wear them!. I think that both materials will slip the same because both have leather on the bottom!. To reduce that though, when you go into class and are about to do turns or something, use a spray bottle and spray some water on the floor!. Then kind of rub your foot in it walk around pivoting on your feet for few seconds so that they arent too sticky or too slippery!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I am assuming you are a pre-teen/teen girl!.

I would go with leather split sole pink ballet slippers!.

Canvas lasts longer, but I have had my leather slippers for over a year and they are fine!. Canvas also looks dirty sooner, but aside from that, there arent any differences that can impair your dancing!.

It depends on your flooring!. If it's more slippery ( like tile, a disaster to dance on) leather gives you more grip on the floor!. If you dance on wood, or Marley, canvas should be fine!. Most dancers and teacher prefer split sole, not full sole!. It enhances your foot better!.

Leather last longer, hence the more expensive price!. Canvas is cheap and last a really long time too, so I'd start with canvas!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Those are the ones I prefer and they're top brands for a great price!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I much prefer leather!. I find them more comfortable and they hug my feet better and give my feet a nice shape!. I don't think they are different when it comes to slipping, because I think the sole on each is the same!.
Good luck hun Www@QuestionHome@Com

oh, i love leather split sole!.
canvas looks very tacky, i think!. i would never wear it, it's basically a cloth shoe!. leather looks so much more professional and lasts a lot longer!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i use pink leather split soles!.
canvas gets dirtier quicker!. I would definatly suggest getting split soles no matter what because it makes doing anything in releve easier!. =]Www@QuestionHome@Com

i have leather and some of my friends have canvas and they say they like them alot see if your studio has a suggestion or requirementWww@QuestionHome@Com
