Question: Irish Dance Hard Shoes Question!?
I am beginning irish dancing (I'v been dancing for 2 around months) and my teacher said I should try and buy a pair of hard shoes, because he dosent have a pair that will fit me!. He said to try rutherfords, because they are wide fitting!.
The problem is I live in New Zealand, the closest I can get them is Brisbane online, and they only have the rutherford black suede ones!. Do you think these are too advanced for a beginner!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Most hard shoe companies will be hard to reach! I live in the US, and I order my hard shoes from New York, which orders them from Ireland!. The brand I suggest trying is Fay's Shoes!.

As for the type you mentioned, any kind you get will probably work, just make sure that the sole is soft, not hard!! flexible-soled hard shoes are MUCH easier to work with!.

also, be careful! and have fun! hopefully you're doing really well, because at my studio we have to dance in character shoes and ghillies for several years before moving onto hardshoe!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I used a pair of clogging shoes with a single tap when I learned irish step!.
I'd suggest a split sole since you'll spend alot of time up on your toes!. Search for "clogging shoes" in your area and you might have better luck!. You'll also want to make sure you order them in black since the standard color will be white!.
also once you start getting into faster steps put a piece of duct tape just behind the front tap for a little extra grip so you can really exaggerate your steps!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I wasn't aware that dance shoes came in "beginner" and "advanced" models, LOL!.

I think you should buy whatever hard shoes fit you best and will be most comfortable for you to dance in!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
