Question: How long do pointe shoes last!?
I've had my pointe shoes since July this year and I'm afraid that I'm going to have to get new ones already!?!? Is the average time a pointe shoe lasts about 4 months!?!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

It depends mostly on brand, how much time spent en pointe, how you treat them, what you practice on them- it really depends on a lot of different variables!.
If you just take a beginner level or between half and hour to an hour and a half of pointe a week, you can certainly get away with using the same pair for 8-10 months!. Some people can wear them for a very long time, but seriously not everyone can pursuit that!. I would say if you are taking intermediate pointe classes (3-6 years in training) you could get through a pair in maybe 4-7 months!. More advanced dancers go through a pair every other month!.
It also depends on brand!. My first pair was a Grishko pro flex 2007, and lasted six months, but when i switched to the regular 2007's, they lasted about 8 months!. Pro flexes tend to already be broken in when you buy them!.
also- check for the signs of dead shoes- they might not even be dead!. If the box feels marsh-mellow-y and the shank is really bendable, its time for a new pair!. Another thing you can check is if you can feel the floor en pointe!. This might be the pointe shoes, but it could also be your feet if you have ingrown toenails or if your toe-pads are ripped up in the toes!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

No way, much mere than that!. It's about a year or two and then you may have to buy new ones!. Don't worry, it's not that short time! =)
But you may get a new one if the wood breaks!. If you feel like you can't stand properly on your pointe shoes, or it feels weird, like as though it bends back or the wood feels separate, then buy new ones!. Ask your teacher after one or two years if you need a new one, or if you feel anything strange in them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Depends how much you use them!. I use them like everyday and they get pretty beat up in less than 6 months but there still usable so I usually wait a whole year until my foot doesn't fit the shoe anymore (im only 13 years old so my foot is still growing!.)
So unless they start falling apart don't waist your money!. Its better to keep wearing the same shoes anyway because it takes awhile to break in new shoes and that affects your dancing for days!. I would wait longer if I were you!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It depends on how much you're dancing!. When I used to dance, I went through mine about a month (during regular class time) and a pair every two weeks (during Nutcracker and spring performance time with all the extra rehearsals) and summer camp (dancing for five hours en pointe every day really makes them die, LOL)!. Four months is pretty average I guess!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

there's really no right or wrong answer for this one!. It all depends on how much you use them!. Someone that uses then alot can have to replace them every month, Professional dancers get a new pair for every performance and throw them out after, and others that uses then next to nothing can last for a year or more! I would agree and say that on average point shoes can last up to 4 months!. It also depends on if your are growing still!. Hope this helps! have a lovely day! =)Www@QuestionHome@Com

It all depends on how much you dance!. I know a girl who dances almost every night and she needs new point shoes almost every month!. Whereas I only dance three times a week and one hour is on point and I have had my shoes for over 6 months!.

Another determining factor is how strong your feet are!. If you have really strong feet your pointe shoes will last a shorter amount of time!.

Hope I could help!Www@QuestionHome@Com

This is my second year with the pointe shoes that I have now, and they still are hardly broken in!. But we only have class for an hour a week (some of the time is used with therabands and the last part of our ballet class too)!. But I have heard that some people kill them in an hour or something!. The will most likely last for a while longer though!.
Hope I helped!Www@QuestionHome@Com
