Question: Double Pirouettes Help!?
Okayy, so I started jazz class this year and for the first time in the class and in my LIFE we worked on pirouettes!. Now, all the other girls have done them before!. But for a newcomer i thought I didn't pretty well, like I almost have my single down, its just not falling over!.
I don't get how I can push though!. When i do go on to learn doubles I want to know how!. I've tried, but I don't think I'm doing it right!.
Thanks in advanced!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I used to have the WORST time doing pirouettes!. I finally got them by pulling up on my standing leg and spotting of course!as long as you pull yourself right up onto your standing leg and keep your core muscles tight, you can keep your balance!. the spotting helps you turn, as do your arms!. make sure to keep your hips and shoulders in line to improve your balance too!

good luck and keep dancing(:Www@QuestionHome@Com

Just keep practicing and it will get easier, I promise!. Just keep in mind the basics that are drilled into you from the beginning!. Spot, keep your supporting leg straight, make sure your passe is high, don't let your foot stick out behind your knee from your passe, and keep your shoulders down!. Doubles really don't take that much force to get around either, so don't go throwing yourself into the turn because you'll just fall off balance!. Once again, practice will be your best chance at improvement!.

Best of luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

first get a good plie- this is the basic beginning for a good pirouette

make sure you get your leg up to your working leg- the less things you have hanging out of your turn the more you'll be able to stay in one place!.
SPOT!!!- find something on the wall and just stare at it, don't move your head until your body is almost all the way around!. If your in front of a mirror, spot yourself!.
never wind up- the worst thing you could do is bring your arms back behind your body in your preperation!. If you do wind up you could put too much force into it and fall over, which is not good!. =)
just remember!.
spot, plie, touch your foot to your knee, and don't wind up!.
don't worry! It takes practice to get good at pirouettsWww@QuestionHome@Com

Ok, the key to doing a perfect pirouette is spotting!. Spotting is where you keep your eyes on a fixed point and when you turn, you look at that spot for as long as possible and then when you can't anymore, you whip your head around and find the spot again!. Try practicing this by sitting in an office chair and spinning around in it while looking at a point and whipping your head around!. Good luck and I hope this helps!Www@QuestionHome@Com

most of the other people already got all the key stuff, but just saying, make sure that in your balances on releve, make sure you find your center by pulling up, not arching your back, and all that other stuffWww@QuestionHome@Com

u need lots of balance and u could try spotting!. encase u dont know wat spotting is, it is that when you are turning u look in the one spot!. it stops u from getting dizzy and u keep ur balance longerWww@QuestionHome@Com
